Portraits of a Photographer: featuring Tami

Our original goal with Tami was to create a “Doppelganger” photo shoot. She had been told so many times how much she looks like a young Mary Tyler Moore, and after seeing her photos, totally agree! We chose a photo of Mary Tyler Moore that worked well for us and copied it for a really fun side-by-side photo.  I also had Tami bring a “normal” outfit so we could create some images that she could use in her photography profession. Tami is just one of those regal women that emanates warmth and beauty. It was not hard to create a celebrity-style photoshoot for her.

Here is her story!

“I like to think of myself as the anomaly to humanity, but the truth is that I blend in rather well when I want to. I find myself so deep in thought and observation most of the time that I fail to really pay attention to what’s happening around me but I do notice the pretty stuff and love. If I had to boil it all down to one word, my raison d’être or why I do what I do, it would be ‘love.’  I love what I do, I capture images that convey the love of a family and my ultimate goal is for the client to LOVE their images and experience with me. People have told me the aspect they appreciate most about my work is how they can feel the love just by looking at the portraits. Mission: complete.Broomfield Portrait StudioPortrait Studio

Photography is another form of poetry and expression for me.  I received my first camera at the age of 5, multiple point and shoot 35mm cameras through adolescence and my first SLR at the age of 14. I would practice incessantly, taking pictures of whatever captivated me, visiting the desert with my mom to photograph sunsets and to this day, I still have a huge box of photographs documenting what my childish eyes saw; this is an heirloom for my children.  What I offer my clients is an heirloom, too because it’s more than just a posed studio shot, it records real emotion and interactions in time much the way our memories do.  I want people to look back and see these photographs as memories, not just some generic art on the wall during the grade school years. Denver colorado portraits

For me, photography is a mission to help people remember the good times, relive the emotions and document the wonderful beauty in their lives.  In order to do this, I have to get to know every client, learn their story and the best part is watching them grow.  Each day is a gift, that’s why they call it the present; I guess that makes me a little more than just another girl with a camera.”

Here is Tami’s awesome look-alike photo. I get a lot of clients that come in to do a look-alike photoshoot. It’s really amazingly fun to try and copy someone famous in a photo!
